Cookie Slab Table

While at his brother's house in the hills of Santa Barbara, my roommate spotted an old dirty piece of wood that was the perfect shape for a new coffee table. He loaded it up and brought it back to the shop. After a thorough cleaning and sanding, the grain of a beautiful pine burl slab really popped. It was amazing to see such a nice color from underneath many years of sun damage and neglect. This was a really beautiful piece of wood, and turned into the perfect coffee table with a coat of stain, poly-acrylic, and a small set of raw steel hairpin legs. I hope to get my hands on more of these types of wood.
